SUMMARY

This project started on 15 Aug 2015.
The product is a software application (multiplatform) that uses an ordinary webcam pointed at the patient's face and tracks the eye gaze direction, feeding that information to a system that makes it possible to create text only by moving the eye. The text is then synthesized into speech in the language of choice.

APPLICATIONS

• Patients affected by ALS, who are no longer able to speak, nor to move their body, will be able to communicate verbally. They will be able to compose their thoughts into words by looking at keys in a virtual keyboard, as if they were "typing" with their eyes.
